How to Find the Perfect Size Riding Boots
A properly fitted pair of riding boots provides the comfort, support, and stability every rider needs. Whether you're purchasing your first pair or upgrading to premium Tonics riding boots, taking a few accurate measurements will help ensure the best possible fit.
Watch the video below to learn exactly how to measure your foot, calf, and leg height before ordering.
Before You Measure
For the most accurate sizing:
Wear your usual riding breeches and riding socks.
Measure both legs, as one calf is often slightly larger than the other.
Take your measurements in the evening, when your legs are at their natural size.
Ask someone to help for the most accurate results.
The Three Measurements You Need
1. Foot Size
Choose your normal shoe size as a starting point. Tonics riding boots tend to fit slightly smaller in the foot, so if you're between sizes, consider ordering one size larger.
2. Calf Width
Measure around the widest part of your calf while standing. Use the larger measurement if your calves differ in size.
3. Leg Height
Measure from the floor to the bend behind your knee along the back of your leg. Remember that quality leather riding boots naturally settle about 1–2 cm as they break in, so they should fit slightly taller when new.
Find Your Perfect Fit
Once you have your measurements, compare them with the Tonics size chart to select the correct foot size, calf width, and shaft height. A properly fitted boot should feel snug—especially around the calf—but not painful. As the premium leather softens with use, the boots will mold to your leg for a comfortable, customized fit.
